F.A.C.T. is a program of Family and Community Services, Inc. dedicated to helping men become the very best fathers they can be. Fathers will learn more about their children by spending time with them. Fatherhood skills will be cultivated through discussion and educational materials provided. With support, fatherhood can be rewarding and enjoyable.
FACTS About Fathers and Children
- Infants whose fathers are active caregivers are better at dealing with stressful
- situations.
- Preschool girls whose fathers are involved in their daily lives do better in math.
- School-aged children whose fathers spend time with them every day will have
- longer marriages and more meaningful friendships when they grow up
- The closer adolescents feel to their fathers, regardless of the type of family
- structure in which they live, the less likely they will engage in delinquent behavior
- “...The most significant family or social problem facing America is the physical
- absence of the father from the home” -1996 Gallop poll
The Challenge To Fathers
Learning to become an involved parent can be a difficult task. Children benefit from positive relationships with their fathers. However, building those strong bonds can be a challenge.
The Assistance To Fathers
Fathers and Children Together will help fathers build relationships using these approaches:
Shared group activities such as bowling, picnics, a movie, or ball game. Dads only discussions to create a forum to share ideas and learn from each other. Individual meetings with each dad to identify unique fatherhood challenges and ways to meet those challenges.
