Domestic Violence

Peaceful Solutions
A comprehensive, 21-week group treatment program for women with domestic violence issues. This group is useful for adults who engage in or are impacted by peer, family and relationship violence, as well as road rage and workplace violence. Community Counseling

Portage Parent Project/Jr
Parent Project is designed to assist parents in identifying destructive youth behaviors, it provides parents with answers that are clear, do-able and proven. This program addresses ways to help parents intervene in the most destructive youth behaviors. Parent Project Jr. is for parents of children ages 5-12. >more

F&CS Counseling Program
The Counseling Department of Family and Community Services will make available a comprehensive family counseling program, integrating multiple area essential for the success and greater independence of the families we serve. We will strive to provide exemplary counseling and education, working with individuals, families and couples to eliminate domestic and community violence. We will promote optimum individual, couple, and family, functioning and inter-personal health, by enhancing inter-personal connections and improving communication and relational skills being mindful the individual's right to self-determination.

Diversion Programs

Think About Your Future
Think About Your Future (TAYF) is a diversion program designed to meet the needs of individuals charged with underage alcohol consumption.

Fast Track
Designed to assist families in imminent danger of having their children removed from their home and custody. This program provides an intensive support structure that fosters family stability.

Consumer Credit Counseling Services

Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) has over 30 years experience in providing financial education and budget solutions to the residents of Northeast and Central Ohio and the surrounding communities.  This program is accredited by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). www.nfcc.org

Our goal is to treal all clients with dignity, respect and appropriate confidentiality while providing the knowledge, confidence and tools to:

  • manage a financially stable home
  • make sound credit and budget decisions
  • creast a plan to become debt-free
  • achieve self-sufficiency, and/or
  • work toward future financial goals.

SERVICES

BUDGET COUNSELING - In a one-on-one session, a certified credit counselor will assist a client to set financial goals and to offer possible solutions to current financial problems.  A client can learn steps to live within the household means by creating a workable spending plan.

DEBT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM - (DMP)* - A certified credit counselor and client will work together to establish a monthly payment plan that may reduce minimum payments and interest, stop late fees, and pay off debt over the term of the program. *The DMP serves the dual purpose of helping the client to repay debts and helping creditors receive money owed them.

BANKRUPTCY CREDIT COUNSELING - We are approved to provide the required bankruptcy credit counseling and financial management education courses. *Approved to issue certificates evidencing completion of a personal financial managemenet instructional course in compliance with Bankruptcy Code.  Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of a Provider's services.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM - CCCS provides tailored financial education to organizations throughout the community, including businesses, student groups, churches and other associations.  Topics range from establishing and maintaining a household budget to using credit wisely.
